If you posted your 2019 Honda CR-V for sale on Facebook Marketplace, would you use a hashtag? What if we told you that #2019HondaCRV would significantly increase post views?

Most likely your dealership is already using social media as part of you automotive marketing strategy. And after reading Explained in 60 Seconds: Facebook Marketplace for Auto Dealerships, it’s only going to become more crucial as a part of your sales strategy.

Whether it be Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, according to 9Clouds, there are 3 Key types of automotive hashtags to leverage when selling a vehicle:

  1. Location (Region, State, County, City)  #newengland #chittendencounty #vermont
  2. Topic (Who, What, Where)  #hondasforsale
  3. Product (Make, Model, Year) #2019HondaCRV #2019 #Honda #CRV.

These are the basics, and your vehicle shouldn’t be left in a post without them. However, hashtags can extend to reflect brand identity, and may include phrases your customers are using naturally to describe your dealership in your community as well. Some great tools, like Hashtagify.me and Trendsmap.com, are available to help uncover the right hashtag for your specific location.

After all is said and done, this is just the tip of the iceberg. But some words of advice: keep it simple. Your buyer will thank you.
